"I-10 Burnout"

As you drive across interstate 10 in West Texas you begin to see the oil fields and old metal oil pumps still in action, tirelessly pumping oil out of that hard earth.  As the sun begins to go down the oil flares can be seen burning off excess gas.  While some would call it ugly and by all accounts it should be, I found a sense of awe in watching those distant flares as I drove on toward my destination.  Art isn't always about whats beautiful or vibrant, sometimes it's about something haunting in the distance and I feel I've captured that quiet well here.  (On wooden framing, 3x2feet)
